Discharge time
On the day of discharge, you will need to leave your room by 11am. If you are coming in for a day case procedure, you may go home later in the afternoon or evening.
If you need a family member or relative to take you home, you are welcome to use our waiting area.
If you need a medical certificate, ask your consultant during your stay.
Take home medication
You may go home with medication from the hospital pharmacy.
If you need more, you'll need to go to your GP for a further prescription.
Deep Vein Thrombosis
You may need to wear anti-embolism stockings after you go home. This is to reduce your risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Your nurse will tell you how to put them on and common symptoms of DVT.
Queries or concerns
If you have any questions or concerns after you leave the hospital, call Sorel ward on +44 (0) 1534 442787.
Follow-up visits
You may need to return to Sorel or Rozel ward after you have returned home. This may be for dressing changes, wound checks, removal of sutures or IV antibiotics. This is a nurse-led service.
Your care includes the first follow-up appointment. Any further appointments will incur a charge.
