Legal scallop sizes
The minimum legal size for a scallop is 102mm and is measured across the broadest part of the shell.
All scallops brought on board a vessel must be kept on board whole so they can be measured. The meat must not be removed from the shell.
Recreational scallop limits
If you are diving recreationally for scallops you are limited to collecting 24 scallops a day and you cannot sell or trade them.
Commercial scallop limits
If you are a commercial diver you can sell or trade your catch and you are not restricted on the number of scallops you can take. However, you can only dive from a boat that holds a valid fishing boat licence and you must record your catches in the fishing logbook of the vessel you dive from.
Restricted scallop diving areas
Scallop diving is prohibited within a concession area in St Catherine's Bay. Details and a chartlet of the area is provided in the conditions attached to your scallop permit.
