We operate a number of sports centres across the Island under the brand name Active.
Sports facilities provided at these sports centres, include:
- fitness gyms
- swimming pools
- sauna and steam
- fitness studios, including spinning studios
- squash courts
- multi-purpose sports halls
- playing fields catering for various sports
- outdoor sports grounds with grass and 3G pitches
- outdoor ball courts
- skatepark

Active Swim School
The Active Swim School is based at Les Quennevais and follows the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme. It is the leading national teaching syllabus for delivering safe, inclusive and effective swimming lessons for all ages.

Sport grants and funding
Jersey Sport coordinate, manage and administer funds for travel, volunteer workforce and schools on behalf of the Government of Jersey.

Governing bodies in sport
Infrastructure and Environment and
Department for Economy work closely together to deliver the Government’s priorities for sport and active living. The Assistant Minister sits across both departments to ensure collaboration.
Infrastructure and Environment is responsible for Jersey’s public gyms, sports facilities and playing fields. They oversee the
Active member scheme and manage and operate
Active sports centres.
The Department for the Economy is responsible for:
- providing an annual grant to Jersey Sport to deliver some of the Government’s Common Strategic Priorities and the priorities in the Government Plan
- ensuring Jersey Sport delivers good value for the taxpayer by maintaining sound corporate governance and delivering against a set of key performance indicators
- maintaining compliance with Jersey’s responsibilities under the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport
- providing advice and guidance to sports organisations with running events
Jersey Sport
Jersey Sport receives funding from The Department for the Economy and other Government departments which is targeted for specific projects.
The role of Jersey Sport is to be the independent organising body for sport and active living in Jersey and to provide strategic direction for the Government of Jersey’s Inspiring an Active Jersey strategy.
