Trading Standards, a section of the Economic Development Department, has recently become the first organisation in Jersey to have become accredited with the Investors in People revised Standard.
Based in the Central Market, the company passed the Standard on the day of its first assessment, five months after committing themselves to the process.
Trevor Le Roux, Chief Trading Standards Officer said that he was delighted with the achievement, and a credit to the team.
"Being involved with and maintaining standards is what our service is all about and therefore going forward for accreditation just seemed a natural extension to this".
Those who meet the new Standard must still demonstrate commitment to staff development, including a clear business plan, staff understanding of the organisation’s aims and objectives, management support, recognition of staff contribution and encouragement to improve standards. However, emphasis is now firmly on managers’ capabilities and how effective they are at managing, leading and developing people.
