The Sand Street Multi Storey Car Park will be closed from 6pm to 10pm on weekdays and from 6pm on Saturdays until 7am on Mondays from 30 January until 1 March to allow the refurbishment works to be completed. Cars will, however, be able to exit the car park during this time.
These restrictions will be clearly signed at the car park. The nearby Esplanade Car Park and the Patriotic Street Multi Storey Car Park have enough spare capacity at these times for patrons to relocate to these sites.
The disabled parking bays on Level 2 will also be disrupted from 30 January to 15 February, however, there will be 8 bays available on the basement level as well as the bays on Level 4 of the car park.
The Transport and Technical Services Department has managed the refurbishment programme to cause the least disruption to users and to keep as many parking spaces as possible available to the public. This has meant that the works have been undertaken in phases with only small sections of the car park being worked on at any one time. This is the final phase of the contract which should be by completed by 8 March.
This refurbishment project is part of an ongoing programme to maintain the Island ’s parking infrastructure and to provide a safer and more secure parking environment. This work is funded from the car park trading fund, generated by income received from parking charges.
