The Department for Education, Sport and Culture is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Rod McLoughlin as Culture Development Officer. Mr McLoughlin will take up the appointment in September 2006.
Having obtained an Honours Degree in English at Edinburgh University, he joined the Jersey Evening Post as a journalist subsequently becoming Deputy News Editor. He joined the Jersey Arts Centre as Director in 1987, working closely with arts organizations in the other Channel Islands through the Channel Islands Music Council and the CI Arts Co-ordinating committee. He was appointed Chief Officer in the Bailiff’s chamber in March 2001.
‘I am delighted at the prospect of working with the many cultural organizations in the Island and encouraging the development of culture through the Cultural Strategy recently adopted by the States’.
Commenting on the appointment, the Director of Education, Sport and Culture, Tom McKeon, said:
‘We are delighted to have appointed Mr McLoughlin to this post. We had an intensive two day assessment centre which confirmed the quality of all the candidates, and in particular Rod, who will, I am sure use his skills, experience and energy to bring a positive influence on this very important aspect of our work’.
