A competition has been launched to find a design for the outside of Transport and Technical Services’ new recycling trailer. Students in Year 7 and 8 are being asked come up with an eye catching design which encourages people in Jersey to reduce waste and recycle more.
The trailer, which is currently being renovated, will be used to raise awareness about recycling, composting and other waste management issues facing the island. It will be taken to community events, shows and schools with the aim of convincing people to take action.
The competition, which is sponsored by HSBC, is open to all secondary schools. The winner will have their design enlarged and featured on the side of the trailer. They will also receive a £50 voucher and £300 for their school’s art department. There are two runner up prizes of £25 vouchers. The deadline for entries is Monday 26th June 2006.
It’s hoped the trailer will be on the road by the autumn.
