20 October 2006
Essential road maintenance work to La Rue du Galet will be carried out starting Tuesday 31 October over a period of 3 weeks, managed by the Transport and Technical Services Department (TTS).
The works will be taking place Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm. For safety reasons, the road will be closed to all through traffic except during the morning and evening rush hours when a single lane will be open. In the morning, from 7am until 9am, there will be a through route for Southbound/town traffic and then in the afternoon from 4.30pm until 6.15pm the road will be open for Northbound/homebound traffic.
La Rue du Galet, although not a large road is highly used and it has been nearly 38 years since it was last fully resurfaced. While the roadworks are taking place, in close coordination with TTS and its contractor Ronez Ltd, Jersey Water will be taking advantage of the closure to undertake water service renewals.
TTS will be liaising with the contractor Ronez Ltd to ensure that nuisance and disruption is minimised and managed. Where inconvenience is inevitable, residents, the travelling public and businesses will be provided with clear information in advance of the work. The necessary diversions will be signed.
