Flamanville 3 - Public enquiry
Consultation Period: July 10 – August 15 2006
The Préfet de la Manche has written to the Chief Minister to explain that following the submission of a request by Electricité de France (EDF) for authorisation to develop a third nuclear reactor at Flamanville, a public enquiry has been ordered in accordance with French legislation.
Jersey has been informed of this enquiry and will be provided with the same documentation that is available to the French population, translated into English. Copies of the documents will be available to read in the States Customer Services Centre, Cyril le Marquand House and the Public Library, Halkett Place, St Helier. A summarised version is available online below.
The French Commission for the Public Enquiry is consulting the public, including residents of the adjacent Channels Islands, in order to present a report, with conclusions, to be considered by (amongst others) the Minister who is empowered to authorise the development.
In order to contribute to the enquiry, members of the Jersey public are invited to submit their responses through the Chief Minister’s Department before 15 August. A summary of these responses will be sent by the Chief Minister to the Commission for the Public Enquiry in France.
