A meeting has been agreed between Jersey Ministers, Westminster MPs and Members of the Channel Islands All -Party Parliamentary Group (CIAPPG) on Monday 9 July 2007.
It was first proposed by MP John Whittingdale OBE, who is the Chairman of the Commons Select Committee on Culture Media and Sport.
Chief Minister, Senator Frank Walker welcomes the meeting: ‘’This is the perfect opportunity for Jersey Ministers to meet Members of Parliament and the APPG group, in person. Our aim will be to improve relations and communications between the parties who all have a positive interest in Channel Island issues.’
At the end of the meeting, the MPs and the CIAGGP Group will be able to put questions to Senator Frank Walker.
It is hoped that the Westminster MPs will accept an invitation to pay a return visit to Jersey in the near future to experience Jersey first-hand. The visit will include a brief tour of the Island, the opportunity to meet with States Members and some key industry figures, together with a briefing on issues relevant to both parties.
