Two small commercial vehicles had not been registered in
Jersey
, in what may be an attempt to evade duty and 13 drivers were issued with defect rectification notices requiring them to present their vehicles at DVS with repairs completed. Several of these vehicles had numerous defects including:
Worn tyres
Worn suspension bushes
Sharp edges exposed from bodywork
Oil leaks and
Worn wind screen wiper blades
Alan Muir, Inspector of Motor Traffic, said: “Despite
several reminders in press articles, it’s disappointing that some irresponsible hauliers continue to operate vehicles that are not adequately maintained and pose a danger to the driver and other road users. So far this year, DVS has taken 12 lorries off the road that were unroadworthy. "
