Although only 94 vehicles passed through this relatively quiet road check, five vehicles were impounded, 17 drivers were issued with defect rectification notices and three drivers were reported for driving without a licence.

, officers from Driver and Vehicle Standards, (DVS), were joined by the Honorary Police to conduct a road check on Route Des Laveurs.
Five vehicles were impounded. One car with defective steering, suspension and oil leaks had to be towed from the check. Two other cars and two small commercial vehicles were discovered to have such seriously defective tyres that they were impounded until the tyres were replaced.
Seventeen drivers were issued with defect notices requiring them to present their vehicle at DVS, with defects rectified. Defects included: tyres, bodywork and steering and oil leaks.
Three drivers have to attend a parish hall enquiry after being reported for driving without a valid licence.

Alan Muir
commented: “Tyres and lights are the easiest things to check for any motorist, yet here we had to take four vehicles off the road because they had one or more tyres that were worn out. All motorists have a responsibility to themselves and other road users to make sure the vehicle they are using is safe. If any tyre is worn, replace it immediately – delaying may cost you more than a fine, it may cost you your life”.
