24 October 2007
The St Clement’s coast road between Millards Corner and
Eureka Avenue
will be closed to all traffic, with the exception of buses and emergency vehicles, between the hours of
7.30pm
and
6.15am
, from Monday 5 November for approximately two weeks. This closure will allow Transport and Technical Services (TTS) to undertake urgent repairs in this important area of the sewerage system.
This work is being carried out at night when the usage of the sewers is generally reduced and the diversion of the flow can be managed while this stretch of sewer is undergoing repair and cannot be used. Every effort will be made to minimise the noise during the relining operations.
Diversions will be posted during the night time works. In addition, if required, the Contractor may also use portable traffic signals, during the hours of 9:30am to 4:00pm to undertake cleaning and inspection of the sewer.
Due to the complexity of this project, a traditional form of repair is inappropriate, therefore TTS have appointed specialist UK Contractor Insituform Limited for the contract. TTS will be liaising with Insituform Limited to ensure that nuisance and disruption is minimised and managed. Where inconvenience is inevitable, residents, the travelling public and businesses will be provided with clear information in advance of the work. Advertisements and signs identifying the extent of the works and diversions will be posted leading up to the works.
