The Jersey trade mission in India has got off to a good start, with a meeting organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce attended by a mixed group of financial intermediaries, banks and IT companies. Between fifty and sixty guests took part in a reception addressed by the Economic Development Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, and EDD’s Chief Officer Mike King.
Today Senator Ozouf has toured Infrasoft in Mumbai, and has met two Jersey students who are employed by the firm in Jersey, and are currently being trained at their head office in India.
Senator Ozouf said - “I addressed all the 300 or so Infrasoft staff, many of whom are working on Jersey projects. Infrasoft is providing IT services to some of the leading financial services businesses, and its base in Jersey means we’re harnessing world class IT expertise and services sector to the island.”
The delegation has also met the Deputy High Commissioner today, and is scheduled to meet representatives from the other major Chamber of Commerce organisation this evening.
