A four week extension has been added to the consultation period for the Island Plan Review Green Paper which was due to close on the 3rd October. The consultation will now close on 2 November.
Senator Freddie Cohen said “Whilst there has been a good response to the Green paper during the 12 weeks we allowed I have decided to act on the requests that I have received from the Rural Alliance and several other organisations and individuals to give slightly longer to make sure that no important views are missed..”
The Green Paper stage of the Island plan review process sets out the many options that are being considered for inclusion in the new island plan. Once the consultation period has ended the Island Plan team will take account of all the representations received in drafting the draft Island plan. This plan will itself be the subject of a further consultation period and then an examination in public by an independent Inspector prior to being submitted to the States towards the end of 2009.
Senator Cohen added “I really do encourage people to take the time to express their views at this formative state of the process when they can really make a difference”
