06 October 2008
A week-long celebration of literature and creative writing takes place around National Poetry Day on Thursday, 9 October.
The event has been co-ordinated by the Jersey Arts Trust with the support of the Jersey Library and Jersey Arts Centre and includes a range of events from readings and workshops to a performance poetry competition for schools. Jersey's most successful published poet Jeremy Reed is appearing on National Poetry Day at the Jersey Arts Centre and he will also be offering workshops to local writers.
The Jersey Library is the location for lunchtime events during the week. For the full programme for literature week, which runs from 4 to 11 October, click
