Transport and Technical Services (TTS) has arranged a number of free sessions to encourage Islanders to get on their bikes more often and become more confident on the road.
The ‘back in the saddle’ sessions, which take place on Saturday 10 September, will start from 3 different locations. The idea is they offer Islanders a gentle cycle ride with experienced cyclists who'll be able to pass on tips about smart ways to cycle on our roads. The sessions will also consider the best cycling routes into town and help improve confidence.
The sessions have been arranged in conjunction with Green Travel Day which is being held on Thursday 22 September. TTS want to get as many people cycling to work that day, as possible.
Connétable Mike Jackson, Minister for Transport and Technical Services, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to get some really useful tips from experienced riders to help improve your cycling and confidence on a bike. The bike ride will suit the pace of the people who attend, so there is no chance of people being left behind or being pushed too hard. I’d like to thank Mike Mitchinson and his friends for his help in making this happen and I hope that there’ll be a lot of people getting back in the saddle this Saturday."
