The Tourism Development Fund Advisory Panel is inviting public and non-profit voluntary organisations to apply for grants to support events and projects that will attract visitors to Jersey and stimulate the tourism industry.
The Tourism Development Fund is sponsored by the States of Jersey under the direction of the Economic Development Department. It has supported numerous successful events and infrastructure developments over recent years covering a wide range of tourism initiatives. These include providing financial support for the development of Jersey Heritage sites as self-catering accommodation, helping to bring the Tour de Bretagne to Jersey and enabling enhanced marketing activity for the Liberation Music Festival.
Peter Funk, the Chairman of the Tourism Development Fund said: “This provides a fantastic opportunity for further investment to support and develop the tourism industry in Jersey. Tourism is essential to the Island’s economy, and the Tourism Development Fund can provide the up-front funding necessary to invest now to bring future returns.”
Organisations wishing to apply to the fund should be able to demonstrate that their events or projects:
- will bring more visitors to the Island
- can attract funding from sources in addition to the fund
- can be sustainable in years to come
Guidelines are available on the Jersey Tourism website's Tourism Development Fund page, and staff from the Economic Development Department can provide further help and information.
The closing date for applications is Friday 11 November 2011. The panel will evaluate the applications, hold interviews with applicants and announce the resulting grants by the end of the year.
