Jersey Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to a furze fire on the La Pulente headland on Sunday evening (25 September).
The fire broke out between La Pulente and Petit Port and the strong southerly wind meant flames reached 10 feet high.
Members of the public alerted the Fire and Rescue Service at around 7:15pm and a total of 16 crew attended the incident. By 8:15pm the fire had been brought under control, by 1:30am the fire was being dampened down and by 4am operations were scaled down further. 2 fire personnel stayed on scene overnight to monitor the situation.
At no stage were any properties in the area in any danger and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Jersey Fire and Rescue Service are praising the members of the public who alerted them to the incident.
