The Global Forum Assessor Training Seminar was attended by delegates from 17 jurisdictions covering Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe.
The seminar was run by the Global Forum Secretariat and aimed to increase the number of assessors who are available to undertake peer review assessments for more than 100 members of the Global Forum.
Jersey is one of the countries that has been assessed to date, and the report on that assessment should be available shortly. The Island has also contributed to the assessment process through the provision of assessors.
The seminar was opened by Colin Powell, Adviser – International Affairs in the Chief Minister’s Department. Mr Powell gave an overview of the Global Forum, the peer review process and what G20 is expecting the result of that process to be.
Mr Powell stated “Jersey was delighted to host this training seminar, the third held since the peer review process commenced in March 2010. Jersey is fully committed to the international standards of transparency and exchange of information on tax matters and continues to play an active part in the assessment process. The training of assessors is of utmost importance if the peer review assessments of compliance are to be undertaken comprehensively and to a high standard.”
