Thursday 7 April 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of the Jersey flag. The public are invited to join States members and the Bailiff, who will be invited to hoist a large Jersey flag at the Fort Regent Signal Station to mark the occasion. The Bailiff will be joined by the Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur.
The public are asked to meet outside on the ramparts at the north-eastern end of Fort Regent at 1pm.
Public and private buildings with flag poles are asked to join the celebration and raise flags between dawn and dusk on Thursday to mark this special anniversary.
About the Jersey flag
In Silver Jubilee year, 1977, it was decided to take steps to provide Jersey with a distinctive flag. With Jersey's growing international profile, it was felt that a new flag would enhance Jersey's identity and avoid confusion with other uses of the plain saltire.
