Treasury and Resources Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, has issued the following statement in response to the Scrutiny report on Lime Grove House.
"The Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel has completed its report on the project to find new accommodation for the States of Jersey Police.
"The panel has acknowledged some of the more complicated issues that arise during property negotiations and I welcome the Comptroller and Auditor General’s follow-up review of the remaining issues.
"It is now clear that a States-owned site can not only meet all the needs of the police in one building but is probably also the best way forward for police efficiency, value for money and for releasing the maximum amount of land for affordable and social housing in St Helier.
"Assistant Treasury Minister with responsibility for property, Constable John Refault, has made significant progress in the last 2 weeks and will provide updates on this matter in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I reaffirm my assurance that we will secure the right site for our police force as quickly as possible within the available budget, and building on a States-owned site will have the additional benefit of providing fiscal stimulus to the economy."
