Transport and Technical Services (TTS) is recruiting 6 new apprentices in a number of different fields.
These include vehicle, electrical and mechanical maintenance and carpentry (running over a 4 year period) and gardening and grounds maintenance (running over a 3 year period).
Connétable Mike Jackson, Minister for Transport and Technical Services, said “I am really pleased my department will be able to offer these apprenticeships. We are one of the larger States departments and we operate over a broad range of activities which will provide huge experience for an apprentice. We have a lot of valuable expertise within TTS from which an apprentice can greatly benefit. Providing this kind of training opportunity is an investment not just for TTS but for the Island.”
Each apprentice will undertake a carefully supervised programme which will cover all relevant aspects of their ‘trade’ before receiving a certificate of achievement at the end of the apprenticeship period.
There are currently 10 people in the department who are already part-way through their training.
