Around 150 of Jersey’s 1,000 nurses and midwives will attend a specialist roadshow hosted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The roadshow follows on from the visit of Professor Dickon Weir-Hughes, the Chief Executive of the NMC to Jersey, earlier this month.
The roadshow, to be held at the Radisson Hotel on Thursday 17 March, is one of several to be held around the British Isles by the NMC, which acts as a regulator for nurses and midwives.
The roadshow will concentrate on current work the NMC is involved with, including safeguarding the public through proactive regulation, nurse education and revalidation, advanced practice, safeguarding adults, raising concerns and fitness to practice issues.
There will be an opportunity to discuss topics in groups, and hear presentations on the issues from specialists from the NMC.
Jersey’s Chief Nurse, Rose Naylor, who will be present throughout the event, said “Fifteen per cent of the Jersey registered nursing and midwifery workforce will be attending this event during the course of the day. To combine the knowledge, skills and experience of local nurses and midwives with the professional regulator is a great opportunity not only to hear first hand about changes affecting the profession but to also discuss issues and challenges faced in practice.
