Jersey's latest retail sales figures have been released by the Statistics Unit.
The Retail Sales Survey for Quarter 2 (Q2) 2011 shows that:
- the seasonally adjusted total volume of retail sales in Jersey has been substantially flat for the last 3 quarters, at a level similar to that recorded 3 years earlier
- the volume of retail sales in Q2 2011 was 4% higher than in the same quarter of 2010
- in Q2 2011 the volume of retail sales in predominantly food stores was similar to that seen in the previous 2 quarters, and was 2% higher on an annual basis
- the volume of retail sales in predominantly non-food stores in Q2 2011 was 3% lower than in the previous quarter, and whilst being up 4% on an annual basis remained below that recorded throughout 2008
