Annual RPI increase of 5.4%

During the 12 months to September 2011 the all items Retail Prices Index (RPI) for Jersey increased by 5.4% to stand at 150.3 (June 2000 = 100).

RPI(X), the RPI excluding the costs of house purchases, increased by 5.5% during the 12 months to September 2011.

RPI(Y), the RPI excluding the costs of house purchases and the effect of indirect taxes (such as GST and impôts), increased by 3.9% during the 12 months to September 2011.

The Retail Prices Index (RPI) is the main measure of inflation in Jersey. It measures the change from quarter to quarter in the price of the goods and services purchased by an average household in Jersey.

The index is compiled using a large and representative selection of over 500 separate goods and services, with price movements for each measured at a representative range of outlets.
