The latest unemplyoment report published by the Statistics Unit shows that in April:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was at the same level as a month earlier (which had seen the highest level recorded to date) and 70 higher than the average for the preceding 3 months
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,740. This latest monthly total is 70 lower than a month earlier (March 2012) and 390 higher than that of a year earlier (April 2011). It is 600 higher than that of 2 years earlier (April 2010)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) now accounts for more than 1 in 6 of total ASW
- 270 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, some 10 higher than a month earlier. 120 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
