The Business Tendency Survey (BTS) for March 2012 has been published by the States of Jersey Statistics Unit.
The latest report shows that:
- the headline all-sector Business Activity Indicator was -25 percentage points (pp) implying that the proportion of businesses in Jersey reporting a decline in business activity compared with 3 months previously was 25 pp more than the proportion reporting an increase. Half of all businesses reported no change
- the all-sector Business Activity Indicator was at its most negative level since this survey was introduced in September 2009
- over all sectors of the economy, all indicators were negative, although 8 of the 10 were at essentially the same level as in the previous quarter; Profitability, Input Costs and Business Optimism remained the most strongly negative
