The Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, is representing Jersey at the Labour Party conference in Manchester between 1 and 3 October 2012. The conference is attended by delegates from within the Labour Party as well as those representing charities, the private sector, political organisations and other governments.
Ministers from Jersey are also attending the Coalition party political conferences. Last week, Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, attended the Liberal Democrats conference in Brighton. Next week, Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Paul Routier, will attend the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham.
Senator Gorst commented: “Our attendance at UK party conferences is an important part of our engagement with the British government and opposition. Through face-to-face meetings with Labour politicians, I will be able to represent the Island on a broad range of issues.”
