Firefighters were called out last night to extinguish a fire at a building used as a workshop and lubricants store at La Collette.
White Watch sent two fire engines after an automatic fire alarm alerted the control centre to the fire at Esso Petroleum Distributors just after midnight. Moments later the control centre received a 999 call from a Connex night security guard informing them of the fire.
When firefighters arrived they called for another engine and specialist equipment. They protected nearby fuel tankers and quickly contained the fire, remaining on site until nearly 5am.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin today.
