'Innovate Israel' connects more than 350 innovative Israeli web, mobile and digital businesses with their UK and European counterparts. The conference provides opportunities for Jersey to raise its profile to an influential audience.
The Economic Development Minister, Senator Alan Maclean, says “Inward investment from Israel offers huge potential for economic growth, diversification and job creation. This conference represents a significant opportunity to explain our digital offering to government and industry representatives at the highest level. We will continue to reinforce that Jersey is open for business."
The Israel Minister for Industry, Trade and Labour, Minister Shalom Simhon MK, is visiting London for Innovate Israel. Senator Maclean, Mike King and Wayne Gallichan from the Jersey delegation will be meeting Minister Simhon, along with other senior Israeli Government officials, to discuss digital collaboration between the Island and Israel.
This will include discussions on the recent trip to Israel, Bank Leumi presence on the island and other e-commerce opportunities. During his visit, Minister Simhon will also be holding talks with a number of other key UK Government officials.
The British Israeli Awards gala dinner will conclude the conference. Jersey is a key participant in the event and Senator Maclean has been invited to sit at the top table alongside:
- Chairman of UK Israel Business, Marc Worth
- ‘Godfather’ of Israel’s hi-tech industry, Yossi Vardi
- Israeli Ambassador to the UK, Daniel Taub
- British Ambassador to Israel, Matthew Gould
- Israeli Minister of Trade & Industry, Minister Shalom Simhon
- former Chairman Lloyds TSB, Sir Victor Blank
- CEO of UK Israel Business, Daniel Seal
The keynote speaker at the event will be the founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales.
This visit builds on the success of Jersey’s recent trade delegation to Israel, which involved meetings with leading e-commerce organisations.
Jersey has forged a strong relationship with UK Israel Business, which co-ordinated the recent delegation to Israel. Its Chief Executive, Daniel Seal, says “We are in the second year of our strategic partnership with Jersey and are delighted to be working closely with Locate Jersey to raise the profile of the Island as a digital centre of excellence.
"Israel is number 1 in the world for technology outside Silicon Valley. We are pleased to be enabling digital partnerships between Jersey businesses and Israel, which will ultimately benefit the Island through inward investment. This conference will build on the excellent foundations which have been forged over the last 2 years.”
