The Japanese Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mr Keiichi Hayashi, will visit Jersey next week on 22 and 23 October 2012. He will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs Hiroko Hayashi, and the Embassy’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Yosuke Kawakami.
During his stay in the Island, the Ambassador will meet Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst; Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache; and Treasury Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf. He will also attend meetings with representatives of the finance industry, as well as visiting Jersey Museum, La Mare Wine Estate and Jersey Dairy. The Ambassador’s party will be guests at Government House and will attend a dinner hosted by the Bailiff, Sir Michael Birt.
Senator Bailhache commented: “I am delighted to be welcoming His Excellency Mr Hayashi to the Island. Japan is the third largest economy in the world, and by engaging with the Japanese government and its diplomatic representatives Jersey is pursuing a key part of its economic strategy. We must continue to identify new markets and to raise Jersey’s international standing through diplomatic and commercial ties with major global economies.”
