Local businesses and other organisations are being asked by Environmental Health to help reduce the spread of norovirus by taking extra hygiene precautions.
Advice for catering organisations or staff
Caterers should take extra care to ensure their staff report any sickness, and stay off work if they are unwell. They should clean kitchens and staff toilets with a chlorine-based product to help prevent further spread of the virus.
Cleaning of public-access areas
Extra care should be given to areas where the public have access, especially toilets and hand washing facilities. Business should make sure enough soap and drying facilities are available and that any rubbish bins are emptied regularly.
Extra cleaning in kitchen, staff toilet and public toilet areas are advised as a matter of routine - even if no actual or possible reports of illness have been reported in the facility.
These simple measures will help reduce possible spread of norovirus.
