Islanders have another chance to ask questions and give their views on the future of Health and Social Services at a public meeting at Les Quennevais School on Monday night.
It’s the second of 4 public meetings to be held on the ‘Caring for Each Other, Caring for Ourselves’ White Paper and there are just 4 weeks left for people to have their say before the deadline for responses to the consultation on Friday 20 July. The meeting is being held in the evening, between 7.30pm and 9pm at the school.
2 other meetings, both at St Paul’s Centre on 16 July, at lunch time and in the evening, will be held before the consultation closes.
Attending the meeting on Monday night will be:
- Health and Social Services Minister, Deputy Anne Pryke
- Chief Executive Officer of Health and Social Services, Julie Garbutt
- Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst
- Treasury Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf
- other representatives from Health and Social Services
There will be a presentation about the White Paper proposals and an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the options that have been identified as a result of last year’s Green Paper consultation.
Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Anne Pryke, said "We continue to engage with Islanders about these important proposals for the future of health and social care in Jersey which affect every Islander. Please take time to come and have your say, and ask any questions you might have. We were very pleased with the interest Islanders showed at our first public meeting 2 weeks ago.
"We face some real challenges in the future in Jersey particularly about how we care for our growing elderly population and how we continue to give Islanders the best care, which is what they deserve. The work going on is across all areas, and the White Paper deals with important issues such as leading healthy lifestyles, offering interventions for families regarding early years development, helping vulnerable adults, ensuring we can get care into the community, and looking at where we might place a new hospital for Jersey."
Copies of the White Paper will be available at the public meeting, but can also be picked up from every parish hall, the Gloucester Street entrance and reception area in the Parade entrance of the General Hospital, all Health and Social Services Department sites, the bookshop at Morier House, the Social Security Department, the Jersey Library, the ground floor area in Cyril Le Marquand House, and for Blue Islands passengers, the Blue Islands lounge at Jersey Airport.
The closing date for the consultation is Friday 20 July.
