For the first time, the Tourism Development Fund (TDF) is now open to applications from the private sector, as well as the public and non-profit sectors. This follows a States decision in July to allow equal access to financial support across all organisations that benefit the tourism industry.
The Tourism Development Fund has supported numerous successful events and infrastructure developments over recent years covering a wide range of tourism initiatives. These include providing financial support for the development of Jersey Heritage sites as self-catering accommodation, helping to bring the Tour de Bretagne to Jersey and enabling enhanced marketing activity for the Liberation Music Festival.
Chairman of the Tourism Development Fund, Peter Funk, said “Funding can be difficult to secure regardless of the kind of organisation you work for. We are delighted that we are now able to consider applications from any organisation with a good idea that will bring more visitors to Jersey. We look forward to seeing some exciting proposals coming forward.”
Organisations wishing to apply to the Fund should be able to demonstrate that their events or projects will bring more visitors to the Island, can attract funding from sources in addition to the Fund and will be sustainable in years to come. Guidelines are available on the Jersey Tourism website and staff from the Economic Development Department are available to provide further information and assistance.
The closing date for applications is Friday 2 November 2012. The Panel will evaluate the applications by mid-December.
