The Fire and Rescue Service was called to deal with a fire in St Brelade last night. 2 vehicles, parked in the driveway of a house, were reported alight at half past midnight and there was concern that neighbouring properties could be damaged.
The crew used breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze with high pressure hosereels and prevented the spread of the fire. Another high pressure hosereel was used to protect the nearby house from possible fire spread and the blaze was brought under control very quickly.
Both properties were inspected and no internal smoke or fire damage was discovered.
The Fire Service has praised the quick thinking of all those concerned. Not only were they called at the earliest opportunity, but all the neighbouring properties were evacuated immediately.
