Precautionary minor maintenance work has started on the old Bellozanne chimney.
The chimney is scheduled for demolition in April 2014, however a routine inspection identified a small amount of maintenance work was required immediately to the top of the chimney, as a precaution, as there had been a bit of metal corrosion and concrete crumbling. The corroded tops of the flues will be dismantled and the section of concrete removed.
Hunts (Jersey) Ltd who had operated the scrap metal yard from the area below the chimney have relocated to the old site used by the previous contractor at the end of Bellozanne Road.
This has freed up the area for the final phase of the demolition of the old Bellozanne energy from waste plant to be carried out. This will be followed by the demolition of the chimney in 2014.
