22 March 2013
Transport and Technical Services (TTS) will be undertaking emergency repair work to the sewer on the westbound carriageway of Victoria Avenue near the garage at Bel Royal.
From 8am on Saturday 23 March, contractors working for TTS will be digging up the road to investigate the collapse and carry out emergency repairs. In order to do this, the westbound carriageway will have to be closed off. The following diversions and traffic management will be put in place:
- traffic travelling west along Victoria Avenue will be diverted from the Burger Bar at Bel Royal on to the eastbound carriageway and rejoin the road past the roadworks
- traffic travelling east from Beaumont will be diverted onto the inner road at Bel Royal where stop/go boards will be in operation
- traffic coming down St Peter’s Valley will be controlled by stop / go boards at Bel Royal
The travelling public are likely to experience delays in this area and are advised to avoid the area if at all possible.
This emergency work cannot be avoided. TTS will try to keep disruption and noise to a minimum. Until further investigation has taken place, they are unable to be sure how long the repair work will take. However, it is likely to continue at least through to Sunday 24 March.
