Parking charge increase

30 January 2014

The cost of parking is increasing in line with inflation from Saturday 1 February 2014.

The price of a single unit paycard will increase by 1p to 74p. Prices were last reviewed in February 2013.

The income from parking is collected in the Car Park Trading Fund which pays for the repair, maintenance and rebuild of car parks as well as the monitoring of car parking regulation. This fund not only pays for the six multi-storey car parks in St Helier but also 81 other car parks across the Island, most of which provide free parking for at least half of the year.

Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Deputy Kevin Lewis, said “Of course a price increase is never welcome, but, we need to make an annual increase to ensure that income keeps pace with inflation so that there’s enough money to keep our car parks up to a reasonable standard.”
