Road users are likely to experience delays when a project to resurface St John’s Main Road begins on Tuesday 22 July.
The work, which is part of an essential programme of highway maintenance, will start on La Rue du Haute de l’Orme (Union Inn) and continue in short sections progressing north to Hautes Croix. The work will run through until the end of November.
Transport and Technical Services identified La Grande Route de St Jean as high priority in the ongoing highway maintenance programme and very much in need of this repair work.
The affected section of the road will be closed on Monday to Friday between 9.30am to 4.30pm, followed by lane closures until 6.30pm. Walkers and cyclist will still be able to use the road, with escorts.
Buses
Bus routes 25 and 27 will be affected by the work and there will be slight delays. Normally buses will be escorted through the working area, however at certain times this won't be possible and a temporary shuttle bus service will operate to the north and south of the working area. This will take passengers to either Hautes Croix or the police station where a connection can be made with the regular bus service. LibertyBus has created a temporary timetable for this service.
Access to premises
People living and working in the area will be able to get to their property, but it may be via a short diversion which will be signposted.
The work is essential and road users are asked for their patience and understanding.
Drivers should allow more time for their journeys if travelling in the area and to take care when driving past the road works, both for their own safety and for those working on the project, and to comply with signage or instructions given.
