Germany’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr Peter Ammon, will visit Jersey on 11 and 12 October 2015.
During his visit, the Ambassador will meet the Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and will stay as a guest of the Lieutenant Governor, General Sir John McColl, at Government House. He will also meet Angela Francey, honorary secretary of the Partnerschaft twinning committee linking the German town of Bad Wurzach and St Helier, and Islanders who were deported to the town during the Occupation.
The Ambassador will also be the guest of honour at a dinner hosted by the Bailiff, Mr William Bailhache.
Senator Gorst said “This visit will be an important opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest on economic and European issues. It will also allow the Ambassador to see at first hand some of the Island’s history and cultural heritage.
“Jersey and Germany already enjoy a productive relationship as joint members of the OECD Peer Review Group, and there are agreements in place between our two governments promoting greater transparency in issues concerning tax and financial crime.”
