The Council of Ministers is to hold the first of its planned community meetings early next month. The meeting will be at the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society headquarters, Trinity, on Wednesday 3 June at 7.30pm.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for Islanders to put questions to the Council of Ministers and to speak to them about any issues that concern them.
The meetings form part of a series of online question and answer sessions, public drop-ins and community meetings which are being held to explain policy decisions to Islanders and to listen to their concerns.
The Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, said “These meetings are an important part of demonstrating openness and transparency in government.
“We want to communicate directly with Islanders, and hear a diversity of views on how we should approach the challenging issues we are facing. I hope these community events will help ministers to work with Islanders in the best interests of Jersey.”
The community meeting will consist of a short presentation followed by questions from the audience. The idea will be to explain decisions that have been made, to answer questions and listen to views from the audience.
People attending this first community meeting will be able to ask their questions in person, or they can submit them in writing on the night, using the forms and collection box provided.
These opportunities for Islanders to give their views and to question ministers in person are being arranged to support the Council’s intention to communicate more directly with Islanders.
