Another 67 people have completed a Trackers apprenticeship and their achievements were celebrated at a special graduation ceremony on 1 December.
The group of successful apprentices includes carpenters, hairdressers, care assistants, electricians and dental nurses. 46 of them have completed professional qualifications at Level 2, eight apprentices have reached Level 3 and 13 have completed the Trackers Foundation Apprenticeship and moved into full-time education or work.
Employers from a wide range of businesses joined their apprentices at the celebration, which was also used to welcome the 112 new apprentices who joined Trackers this term.
Employers and educators
Phil Le Claire of Amalgamated Facilities Management said "The joined-up support that Trackers is able to offer by acting as the conduit between employers and educators is vital. We have seen real benefit from having the support of Trackers and take great comfort from knowing they are there. People succeed because of their support."
Care apprentice Laszlo Rozgonyi said "My time on Trackers has been brilliant. Everything we talked about in terms of support and mentoring before I started has worked out exactly to plan and I can’t thank Trackers enough."
The Trackers model is unique to Jersey. The success rate so far has been exemplary and well ahead of other apprenticeship schemes.
ESC Minister Deputy Rod Bryans said "Trackers continues to be a success story and one of the best examples of how education and business can work together. The programme offers real opportunities for trainees to develop a career they value but it also enables firms to have training tailor-made to their requirements."
Mentor system
Director of Education Justin Donovan said "Close co-operation between employers and educators is vital if we are to ensure our young people are equipped the right skills for Jersey businesses. One of the major strengths of Trackers is the mentor system, which supports both the employee and the employer throughout the whole apprenticeship to ensure the training is focused and relevant."
Trackers so far:
- 243 people are currently enrolled
- 112 of those started this year
- there are currently 17 different apprenticeships
- Trackers works with over 200 different employers
- this year Trackers launched a new Digital Apprenticeship pilot incorporating flexible industry specific qualifications bespoke to the individual’s learning/business needs
- also launched was a Veterinary apprenticeship that uses a blended learning format
