New homes for Troy Court

11 June 2015

Outline plans for Troy Court to be knocked down and replaced with six blocks of  modern housing accommodation were today (11 June 2015) approved by Jersey’s Planning Applications Committee.

Les Vaux Housing Trust, established in 1989 to provide homes to people in need, asked for permission to demolish 108 homes in seven existing blocks at Troy Court and Valley Court at Grands Vaux, and replace them with 123 new social rented homes.

Under the plans, each household would have access to an outdoor space, such as a patio or balcony, plus three communal areas.

Now the initial plans have been approved, Les Vaux will draw up more detail proposals which address the appearance of the new buildings and landscaping, which will be considered by the Planning department at a later date.

St Martin parish float

The Committee also agreed to the temporary change of use of part of a field in St Martin for building the parish Battle of Flowers float.

The St Martin’s Battle of Flowers Association want to erect two marquees in a field at L’Abri Farm, on La Grande Route de Faldouet and use them to build the parish float over three months between June and September.

The Committee accepted the Planning department’s view that changing the use of the field temporarily to support a tourist, community and cultural event would not cause harm to the Green Zone or hinder its long term agricultural use, and that the impact on the countryside and traffic wouldn’t be unreasonable. There were five letters objecting to the proposal and sixteen supporting it.
