16 April 2015
The seventh annual exhibition of artwork and crafts made by prisoners at HMP La Moye begins on Friday 17 April 2015.
Inside Out 7 is being held at The Harbour Gallery, St Aubin, and will be open to the public daily from 10.30am to 5.30pm until Monday 27 April following an official opening by the Lieutenant-Governor, Sir John McColl and Lady McColl.
The work of some 35 prisoners will be on display and includes a wide variety of media, including painting, ceramics, drawing and wood work.
Prison service art tutor Lucy Blackmore said "There is a huge variety of both media and subject matter. Prisoners have been working hard on producing their best work, which is of a very high standard."
Prison Governor Bill Millar said "We do try to provide prisoners with opportunities for self-development and to encourage them to channel their energies into constructive activities. Many do learn new skills and it’s important for them to realise that they are capable of producing items of quality and value. The feedback they get from the exhibition is consistently very positive."
The exhibition is being sponsored by The James Knott Trust, Gallery and Love Wine.
