The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is resurfacing La Route de la Trinité in the New Year until April.
The road will be closed to through traffic during working hours (9.15am until 6pm), Monday to Friday and open at all other times. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained, but restricted when the final road surface is being laid. When necessary, diversions will be in place.
The resurfacing work will be completed in two sections between Old Trinity Hill and the southern end of La Route des Petits Camps, and between the Blacksmiths Arms and Rues es Picots. The section in the middle is being left out as it is in an acceptable condition.
This road is a high priority for maintenance as it is one of the Island’s main north-south arterial routes and is showing signs of fatigue and has a poor ride quality. It passes through areas that include several amenities such as the parish primary school, football field, and several local businesses and outlets.
Work will be carried out in phases starting from Rue es Picots working south. The stage by the primary school will be done during the February half term.
Diversions for through traffic will be via Hautes Croix and Queen’s Road or Maufant and Five Oaks.
The Route 4 bus will continue to operate, however the route and timetable may have to be altered depending on where the work is being done. This may also require the use of a free shuttle to connect services.
When the work starts in the New Year, www.gov.je will provide up to date information on the progress of the work, the current phase, and the local diversion routes.
