The Social Security department swept the board in the Public Sector Award category in last night’s Jersey Customer Service Awards 2016. Not only did Chris Guillochon from the Customer Service Centre take home the trophy, the two runners-up also came from Social Security: Kim Le Blancq and previous winner Jacqui Stroud, both who work in Back to Work.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Social Security has won the Public Sector Award category. Chris, who has been with Social Security for two and a half years, was delighted with his success: “I believe that customers just want honesty and sincerity, and someone to care about their problem or question. At Social Security we are often the first stop for many new people on the island, and somewhere people have to come at points at their lives that may be stressful or difficult already – so it is really important that people leave the building, or put the phone down, feeling we have helped them, or that we have made life easier in some way.”
The Awards, now in their sixth year, recognise and reward those in the Channel Islands who consistently offer customer service excellence, and whose focus is always the customer first and foremost. The judges considered over 12,000 nominations made by members of the public across the two islands. The winners were announced at an awards presentation last night, Thursday 6 October, at the Radisson Blu Hotel which was hosted by Channel 103.
The Minister for Social Security, Deputy Susie Pinel, said “I am very proud of Chris, Jacqui and Kim. Over the last two years we have been reviewing all our processes and standards to put our customers at the centre of everything we do, and their success in these awards demonstrates how far the department has come. I’d like to thank all the customers who voted for Social Security.”
