Funding available to support the tourism industry

20 April 2016

The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) is inviting applications for grants to support events or projects that will attract additional visitors to Jersey and help further stimulate the tourism industry. In particular those from small enterprises and start-up ventures.

The Fund has supported numerous successful events and infrastructure developments over recent years, covering a wide range of tourism initiatives. Previous grants have included providing financial support for the development of Jersey Heritage sites as self-catering accommodation, helping to bring the Tour de Bretagne to Jersey and supporting an International Chess Tournament. Last year, up to £189,500 was made available to the Ports of Jersey to support the 2015 International Air Display, however only £57,709 was required. This means that there is now approximately £250,000 available.

Sustainable ventures

Organisations wishing to apply to the Fund should be able to demonstrate that their events or projects will bring more visitors to the Island, can attract additional funding from sources in addition to the Fund, and create sustainable ventures in the years to come.  Guidelines are available on the Visit Jersey website at www.jersey.com/tdf with staff from the Department for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture available to provide further information and assistance.

Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, Senator Lyndon Farnham said “Since it was established the Tourism Development Fund has allowed a number of ambitious initiatives to be realised. From hosting world class events to show casing our heritage in a way that makes it accessible to all, the fund recognises projects that will benefit not only the tourism industry but our community as a whole.”

Applicants are advised to contact Jersey Business who can provide free and confidential advice to assist with the application process.  Visit Jersey are also available to assist applicants in aligning their venture with the Jersey Destination Plan.
