Energy from Waste plant annual shutdown

​The Energy from Waste Plant (EfW) at La Collette is having its second annual maintenance outage from Thursday 2 November until early December 2017.

Despite the shutdown the EfW will continue to receive waste as normal, however Parish and commercial customers may experience longer waiting times at busy periods, although the Department for Infrastructure will try to minimise the impact as much as possible.

Busy times tend to be mid-morning, lunchtime and mid-afternoon.

During the shutdown work will be carried out on repairing damage to the incinerators caused by incorrect disposal of large metallic items and a major overhaul of the steam turbine.

All the maintenance work should be concluded by early December when the incinerators will be relit with the turbine producing green electricity and the backlog of waste will start to be burnt over the winter months.
