The construction of a new path for pedestrians and cyclists adjacent to the English Harbour begins on Monday 20 November 2017.
The Department for Infrastructure is carrying out the work, continuing its commitment to creating a safe walking and cycling route from St Aubin to Havre des Pas by linking the east and west routes.
There is currently a continual off-road pathway along the route except for stretches adjacent to the English and French harbours.
The new path runs along the English harbour and, subject to planning permission, on a boardwalk over the French harbour.
To enable the construction work to take place, one lane of the road will have to be closed and traffic managed with temporary traffic lights. The lane closure will be in place 24 hours a day.
Vehicles will still be able to access premises but there are likely to be delays and drviers are advised to use alternative routes such as Pier Road or the Tunnel if possible.
The work is due to be completed by 22 December 2017.
Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Eddie Noel, said “We received a lot of positive feedback when we consulted on this project earlier this year. I am pleased we are now able to get this project underway. I am sure it will be of great benefit to both pedestrians and cyclists.”
